25th Anniversary Wrap-Up

The 25th anniversary celebration of the Neil Squire Society on December 3rd, 2009 was a huge success. Over 150 clients, supporters, and friends of the society joined us at our Burnaby office to help us celebrate this remarkable milestone.

During a moving presentation by Peggy Cameron and her family, a cheque in the amount of $20,049 was donated to the Society. These funds were from the Bill Cameron Visionary Fund which was created in memory of Bill Cameron, inventor, research engineer, and founder of the Neil Squire Society, upon his death in 1993. “He would be so proud of all this organization has done, of the hard work and dedication of the Board members and employees of the Society” said Nancy Cameron during her speech. With the generous support of the Cameron family, the Neil Squire Society continues Bill’s legacy of creating opportunities for independence for individuals with physical disabilities.

In lieu of being able to attend in person, Canadian Senator, The Honourable Yonah Martin (new window) , sent the Society a letter which was read aloud by Clay Braziller, Chair of the Board. “For twenty-five years, you have worked to create a Canada where every person has the ability to make the most of their lives achieving goals both large and small. Your dedication to your neighbors and to your community is enriching our country, inspiring Canadians from coast to coast, and ensuring that all Canadians can live a meaningful prosperous life” wrote Martin. “On behalf of the Senate of Canada, I congratulate you once again on twenty-five years of success and wish you all the best in the years to come.”

Thank you to everyone who made our 25th anniversary so wonderful. Here’s to the next 25!

The First Annual Job Fair for People with Disabilities

Neil Squire Society Presents: The First Annual Job Fair for People with Disabilities

The Neil Squire Society has partnered with various community organizations to create the First Annual Job Fair for People with Disabilities to take place on Tuesday, April 6th, 2010 from 1:30-5:00pm at University of Regina in the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport (new window) which is located at 3737 Wascana Parkway.

This Job Fair is exclusively for work seekers living with a disability. It will feature company and organization booths with employees committed to a representative workforce. There will also be service providers with information on accommodations and funding.

Neil Squire Society looks to the future with excitement and through the Neil Squire Society Mission and Mandate statements, we strive to achieve better ways to serve our job seekers and our employers.
