Vancity Funding will Target Marginalized Individuals with Physical Disabilities

BURNABY, British Columbia–(February 22, 2010) – Vancity Credit Union (new window) donated $10,000 at a cheque presentation on February 5th, in support of the Neil Squire Society’s Computer Comfort program, marking the sixth consecutive year of support from them. These funds will help the Society deliver its program to approximately 120 people with physical disabilities in the Greater Vancouver Regional District.

The Computer Comfort program is designed for individuals who have significant physical disabilities and who have a desire to learn how to use computers to achieve their individual goals. The program provides a crucial, initial outreach in a non-threatening and welcoming learning environment with one on one computer instruction. All too often the “school of last resort”, for many, this can be the first step in gaining the confidence to move towards mainstreaming into society and/or gainful employment.
