Volunteer Position: Computer Tutor

Location: Regina, Saskatchewan

Purpose

To work with program participants on computer learning activities. In partnership with participants and the program coordinator/instructor, the Computer Tutor strives to increase each participant’s level of comfort and independence with computer technology. Computer Tutors work within the Computer Comfort Lab under the Program Coordinator.

Responsibilities

  • Assist participants with computer learning activities
  • Answer participants’ questions as needed
  • Review covered material regularly
  • Monitor participant’s progress and inform program coordinator/instructor
  • Meet regularly with program coordinator/instructor to report participant’s progress and receive feedback on tutoring
  • Log hours spent tutoring

Qualifications

  • Good to advanced computer skills
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Teaching or tutoring experience is an advantage

Volunteer Position: Literacy Tutor

Location: Regina, Saskatchewan

Purpose

To work with program participants to identify their particular needs and create an individual action plan for them to succeed. In partnership with participants and the program coordinator/instructor, the Literacy Tutor also strives to prepare the participants to successfully complete their GED. Literacy Tutors work within the Literacy Program under the Program Coordinator.

Responsibilities

  • Assist participants with literacy learning activities
  • Answer participants’ questions as needed
  • Review covered material regularly
  • Monitor participant’s progress and inform program coordinator/instructor
  • Meet regularly with program coordinator/instructor to report participant’s progress and receive feedback on tutoring
  • Log hours spent tutoring

Qualifications

  • Equivalent of Grade 12
  • Good to advanced computer skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Teaching or tutoring experience is an advantage
