April 26, 2012

Hi from the Employ-Ability program!

We are running a workshop on Chronic Pain (new window) Self-Management within the Employ-Ability program this session. This program was developed at Stanford University (new window) and is managed locally by the University of Victoria (new window), through the Centre on Aging (new window). You can see more about the program at this link (new window).

We had facilitators (new window) visit the class in the last session and it was so successful for the people who took the program, Chris, Laureen, Lissa and Anu have taken the training and are now qualified to deliver the classes.  We will be starting a new session starting on May 4 and delivering 6 classes on Friday mornings from 10:00 to 12:30. All materials including a wonderful resource book called Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions, Chronic Pain Management Self-Management Program Workbook and other resources are provided free of cost to all participants.

We have space for 5 more participant who could commit to joining us on Friday mornings for 6 weeks. First come first serve. We welcome you to invite a family member or care givers to join you in this wonderful program. This will be an ongoing program with us now so there will be further opportunities should this not be the right time for you. The next opportunity will be in approximately in 20 weeks.
