DESCRIPTION:The University of Alberta BME 553 class focuses on Rehabilitative Biomedical Engineering. This class will explore how Makers Making Change can be a resource for their future careers and to learn the basics of creating adaptive switches and other assistive tech. \nAccording to Statistics Canada\, 80% of people living with a disability use an assistive device to increase their independence\, and 27% need at least one more. Cost is often cited as the main barrier. \nIn partnership with the Makers Making Change program of Neil Squire.
