SUMMARY:Coquitlam Library - Youth Toy Hack
DESCRIPTION:Calling all Youth Makers! Come Learn\, Build and Make Change in your community. \nIn this workshop we’ll explore Assistive Technology by Hacking into a Toy and re-wiring it to make it Switch Accessible. The best part is every Toy we Hack will be donated to the community after we’re done. \nAccording to Statistics Canada\, 80% of people living with a disability use an assistive device to increase their independence\, and 27% need at least one more. Cost is often cited as the main barrier. \nMakers Making Change supports STEM education through an assistive technology lens. Our workshops encourage students to tackle real-world challenges as Maker Volunteers and to empathize with people with disabilities. Learn more here: Youth Making Change. \nIn partnership with the Makers Making Change program of Neil Squire. \nAGE GROUP: Youth 12-18
