SUMMARY:Gift of Access: National Holidays Wrap Up Week - Calgary
DESCRIPTION:Hacking for the Holidays Makes Play Accessible for Kids With Disabilities!\nEvery child deserves to play. But for many kids with disabilities\, toys can be hard to use independently\, and commercially adapted versions can run upwards of $300. However\, with a little bit of tinkering\, we can switch-adapt toys and make them accessible for a fraction of the cost. \nFrom September to December\, we’re engaging volunteers – students\, corporate partners\, and other community members – at buildathon events all across Canada\, where we will make assistive switches and adapt toys for families and therapists across Canada. \nIn this event we will be testing toys and adaptive switches\, and preparing them for shipping out to families. \nSnacks and refreshments will be provided to volunteers.
