SUMMARY:Hire Ability
DESCRIPTION:Date: Saturday\, 18 March 2023\nTime: 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.\nLocation: Sechelt Seaside Centre (5790 Teredo Street\, Sechelt) \nWorkBC Assistive Technology Services will be at Hire Ability\, a networking luncheon for employers\, job seekers with a disability and their supporters. \nDon’t miss this FREE unique opportunity to learn about the supports available to employers and job seekers to build diversity and inclusion in the workplace. The highlight of this event is a dynamic and inspiring presentation Wai Ma\, a man who continually lives his life by Breaking Limitations. There will also be time for employers and job seekers to connect. \nThere is no cost to attend this event but we do ask that you pre-register so that we can ensure we have enough food and place settings. \nSpeaker bios: \nWai Ma \nWai is a man who continually lives his life by Breaking Limitations. He is an entrepreneur and professional speaker. Despite being born with the twin scourges of multiple sclerosis and cerebral palsy\, he has developed a positive philosophy by which he has changed from being helpless to getting more from life. It becomes a matter of risk: “…as you take more risk\, you will fail from time to time\, but your failures will lead to success\, and you will live life fully.” \nWai’s infectious enthusiasm for whatever he is doing is contagious. He says: “You can choose the kind of energy you wish to attract into your life. Positive energy results from positive thoughts\, and you can choose.” Wai had chosen a career in speaking when there was a time in his past when many doubted he would ever be able to communicate clearly. Wai is surrounded by a great support structure of family and friends who are inspired by his attitude and determination to make a difference in others’ lives by sharing his experience. \nLearn more at: www.breakinglimitations.ca \n\nNate Toevs WorkBC Assistive Technology Services \nNate is the Marketing Manager at Neil Squire\, a non-profit organization that has revolutionized Canadians’ lives with disabilities since 1984 through accessible technology. Nate has a long-standing background in Retail\, Wholesale and Business to Business sales and Marketing activities. His talk at the event will focus on a program that can benefit British Columbians called WorkBC Assistive Technology Services. \n\nThis event is made possible with funding from the Government of Canada through the Canada-British Columbia Workforce Development Agreement. \nFor more information\, please contact Nancy Martin at nancy.martin@opendoorgroup.org or 236-429-2509.
