SUMMARY:Light Touch Switch Build at Mount Royal University
DESCRIPTION:Our Makers Making Change (new window) initiative is collaborating with Mount Royal University Maker Studio (new window) to host a Switch Buildathon. The Maker Studio is a creative space for students\, faculty\, staff and community users to explore ideas and concepts. Come see how you can use your maker skills to benefit the community. This event is open to anyone who wants to participate. \nLearn to Build A Light Touch Switch\nAt this workshop\, you will learn to build a low cost 3D printable accessibility switch design (new window) by Kevin Cross (new window)\, a maker in our online network. The switch is small (50 mm L x 18 mm W x 15 mm H) and uses a standard 3.5 mm cable. It is easy to press for those who find it challenging to press down with force. The activation force of this switch is 0.3 – 0.4 N. \nUsage\nThe switch is well-suited for use by a finger. This switch can be plugged into any standard AT interface. It can also be used with the Xbox Adaptive Controller. Multiple switches can be used to get input from more than one finger. The switch is also available in a dual side-by-side version.
