DESCRIPTION:Makers Making Change is excited to be partnering with RBC Bank for a toy adapting event! \nThe RBC Bank team will be led by Makers Making Change to switch adapt toys! Participants will “hack” battery operated toys\, taking them apart\, and adding in the switch jacks so the toy can be paired with as assistive switch to create more accessible options for children. The completed toys will then be donated to our local partners to be delivered to families and children with disabilities. \nThank you to RBC Bank for their ongoing support.

We will be putting on our Switch Build. \nOur Build Assistive Technology: Assistive Switches workshop allows participants to discover the world of assistive technology by assembling assistive switches from our Makers Making Change assistive device library. Assistive switches can help people with disabilities independently access anything from computers and smartphones to switch-adapted toys and appliances. Switches come in many different shapes and sizes\, and address many different needs. \nParticipants will solder and assemble to create assistive switches. \nMMC provides materials\, tools and instructions to workshop participants as they are lead in a workshop learning more about assistive technology and accessibility while creating an assistive device! \nOur STEM with Purpose workshops support STEM (Science\, Technology\, Engineering and Math) education through an assistive technology lens and encourage students to tackle real-world challenges and to empathize with people with disabilities.
