Neil Squire Society is a Canadian national not-for-profit organization that provides employment programs, computer tutoring, online services and assistive technology solutions for persons with disabilities. Headquartered in Burnaby, BC, the Neil Squire Society is presently hiring for their Working Together for Employers & Enhancing Employability (WTEEE) program, a federally funded project.

Duties and Responsibilities:

We are currently seeking a Career Facilitator to work full-time at our Burnaby office in our Working Together with Employers & Enhancing Employability (WTEEE) program.

Under the direction of the Manager, Employment Programs, the Career Facilitator is responsible for facilitating group and one-to-one sessions on employment topics pertaining to Career & Personal Development, Wellness for Work and Job Development.

Topics include but are not limited to:

  • Career Assessment tools
  • Labour market research
  • Transferable Skills Analysis
  • Disability Disclosure
  • Job search techniques
  • Networking
  • Informational Interviewing
  • Maintaining employment
  • Resumes & cover letter writing
  • Interviewing
  • Screen clients for suitability and conduct intakes  to determine eligibility and develop detailed return to work action plans to provide individualized curriculum based on individual client needs
  • Provide case management support as needed to continually facilitate progress with clients throughout the continuum of the program
  • Prepare detailed monthly and quarterly reporting on client progress in accordance with program procedures for submission to funders
  • Meet and network with various service providers to promote the program to increase recruitment and develop a network of resources for supported referrals

Additional Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Be comfortable facilitating both large and small groups on a variety of topics preparing participants for transition into the labour market
  • Work collaboratively  within a team of job developers, case managers and facilitators to understand the needs and occupational goals of clients and implement strategies for securing employment

Other Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to creatively solve problems and overcome the challenges associated with working with multiple barriered clients
  • Ensure all statistics, case notes, reports, consents and other information pertaining to client documentation are completed on time and maintained in adherence to policies and procedures
  • Ability to work within a client centred model providing unconditional positive regard
  • Strong administration, computer and technical skills including MS office
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must adhere to project outcomes, objectives, milestones and policies of the organization to ensure success

Education Training and Experience:

  • Relevant Bachelor’s Degree, Diploma in Social Services or a related field and/or CDP Certificate or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Previous employment experience is required
  • Experience working with people with disabilities and other barriers to employment
  • Knowledge and experience of employment counselling
  • Willing to undergo a Criminal Record Check

Additional Information:

  • Work Schedule – Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week
  • Salary range: Competitive
