Fredericton Device Build

July 21, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm ADT

Gamers with disabilities using adaptive technology

Makers Making Change is hosting a fun event where individuals can volunteer their time to build an assistive device!

Participants will be provided with tools, parts and instructions and shown how to build an assistive device – the dice spinner! The dice spinner allows an individual to roll a dice in a creative way, by plugging in an adaptive switch and pressing to have the spinner roll the dice! This allows for anyone to roll a dice with a press of a switch! For more info on the dice spinner: https://www.makersmakingchange.com/project/dice-spinner/

Makers Making Change is a project that connects people who could benefit from assistive devices with volunteer makers. Makers Making Change is an innovative community-based initiative that connects makers to people with disabilities to create affordable open source assistive technologies. Makers Making Change utilizes emerging technology such as Arduino microcontrollers, 3D printing and laser cutting. The project integrates the culture and communities that surround the open source movement, the maker movement and the crowdsourcing movement.
