Scott was injured in an assault which left him with a head injury. The injury, in turn, made it difficult for him to learn. He came to the Neil Squire Society’s Job Focus Program to find employment – first as a volunteer, then as a part-time paid worker. He was interested in working in an agency that shelters the homeless. The Job Focus Employment Specialist helped him land a volunteer position as a weight room monitor at The Gathering Place (new window). He was there for only a month when he thought he could handle part-time employment. Scott is now a Shelter Attendant at the Portland Hotel Society (new window) where he is working 36 hours per week.
Way to go, Scott!
