BURNABY, British Columbia, March 5, 2012 – The Neil Squire Society today announced that Vancity (new window) will be providing a $10,000 community project grant in support of the Society’s Computer Comfort Program for persons with physical disabilities.
The Computer Comfort program is designed for people with significant physical disabilities who have a desire to learn how to use a computer to achieve their individual goals, live more independently and further employment, education, and volunteer opportunities. Participants meet with a volunteer tutor once a week to work one-on-one on their own self-determined goals such as word processing, email, the internet, and social networking.
“Vancity has been a strong supporter of our Computer Comfort program for many years. They have helped us to continue providing one-on-one computer tutoring to a truly marginalized group of individuals in the Greater Vancouver area,” said Gary Birch, Executive Director of the Neil Squire Society. “We are very pleased to have their support once again for this very important program.”
