Renita Finds a Good Fit in Her Community

For eight-year-old Emmett, one of his favourite parts of attending his first camp at Camp Jean Nelson in Water Valley, Alberta in May was a Makers Making Change device build, where he got hands-on experience making Light Touch Switches and Raindrop Switches that will go to people with disabilities.
Over the summer, Makers Making Change hosted nine build events at the TELUS World of Science Edmonton summer camps.
“I am completely deaf on my left side and only have 30% hearing on my right,” she shares. “Not being able to hear at work was stressful.”
With help from Neil Squire’s Digital Jumpstart, Working Together, Solutions, and Makers Making Change programs, Troy has been spreading the joy of cooking with his lessons.
