The Neil Squire Society (new window) was very fortunate to have Milad, a fourth year engineering student from Simon Fraser University (new window), share his talents with the organization over the summer. After finishing his time at the Neil Squire Society, Milad sent us a letter and asked us to share it;
“I am a fourth year systems engineering student at Simon Fraser University and my areas of interest include software development, robotics, and graphic design. I have always been passionate about studying engineering because I find it fascinating to solve real world problems using mathematics and physics. As an engineering student at Simon Fraser University, I am required to gain work experience in my field of studies before receiving my degree.
On May 7th, I was informed by Simon Fraser University Co-op program (new window) about a potential co-op opportunity at the Neil Squire Society, working on development of the new Moodle (new window) website under the supervision of Chad Leaman. I found this summer job as a great opportunity to gain work experience and learn more about development of web applications.
I have been learning about the development of different web based assistive technologies such as Text-to-speech module during this co-op term and this will help me to develop accessible applications in the future.
It was a pleasure working at the Neil Squire Society. I have had the honour working with a great group of people and it would be a pleasure for me to once again be part of this team in the future.”
