Dr. Gary Birch Awarded Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal

BURNABY, British Columbia, April 12, 2012 – Dr. Gary Birch, O.C., Executive Director of the Neil Squire Society, was awarded a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (new window) at a special presentation ceremony yesterday in Vancouver. The Right Honourable Steven L. Point, OBE, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia on behalf of The Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada (new window), presided over the ceremony at HMCS Discovery. Gary Birch at the CeremonyThis commemorative medal was created to mark the 2012 celebrations of the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada. The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal is a tangible way for Canada to honour Her Majesty for her service to this country. At the same time, it serves to honour significant contributions and achievements by Canadians.
