Marjie, who works for Envision Financial (new window), recently nominated us for an Envision Employee Endowment (new window) Marjie and Logan Van Dyke with Neil Squire Society Executive Director,Gary Birchgrant made possible through the employees of Envision Financial (new window). She stopped by today to present us with a cheque for $1,250!  Thank you Marjie and Logan, and thank you Envision Financial (new window) and Envision Financial (new window) employees!

Here is Marjie’s nomination letter:

I would  like to nominate the Neil Squire Society to receive a grant from the Envision Employee’s Endowment Fund. The Neil Squire Society empowers Canadians with physical disabilities through the use of computer-based assistive technologies, research and development and various employment programs. Through their work they help their clients remove barriers so that they can live independent lives and become active members of the workplace and society. They specialize in education and workplace empowerment.

In 2008 my son broke his neck in an accident, since then he has found it very difficult to return to school and to find meaningful employment. The society is helping him move forward with his life. He is currently enrolled in a three month course that will help him learn how to use computer based assistive technologies and to prepare him for future employment opportunities that will help him reach his employment goals. In addition to all of that, they will fund another two years of education to help him get the best start possible for finding employment in his chosen field (computer assisted drafting). Without their support he would not have the opportunity to realize his goals and to become an independent member of society. The Neil Squire Society is an amazing organization that has helped countless people with disabilities. I feel that they deserve a grant from the Envision Employee’s Endowment fund so they can continue helping people with disabilities.
