Global Accessibility Awareness Day LogoThursday, May 19th is Global Accessibility Awareness Day (new window) (GAAD). The purpose of the day is to get people talking, thinking and learning about digital (web, software, mobile, etc.) accessibility and users with different disabilities. This year marks the fifth Global Accessibility Awareness Day.

The Neil Squire Society has the following events happening to coincide with GAAD:

Kelowna’s Global Accessibility Awareness Day Workshop

In Kelowna, we are hosting a workshop for Global Accessibility Awareness Day. The drop-in style workshop will have 3-5 minute presentations by Digital Accessibility expert, Derek Wilson of the Neil Squire Society. Please register here to attend the workshop.

Vancity Employer Lunch ‘n Learn

The Vancity Employer Lunch ‘n Learn will bring in local employers that are interested in growing their business. Neil Squire Society will dispel myths about hiring people with disabilities, explore the business case for more diverse workforces, and introduce Federal and Provincial grants that can cover the costs of hiring, training and accommodating people with disabilities in the workforce.
