NAOC Donates Assets to NSS

March 9, 2012

The National Academy of Older Canadians NAOC a non-profit society (new window) dedicated to the progressive learning, social growth and intellectual development of Older Canadians was recently forced to close its doors due to cutbacks in funding. Upon the urging of a former Neil Squire Society Computer Comfort volunteer, the NAOC Board of Directors (new window) voted unanimously to transfer all of their assets (new window) to the Neil Squire Society.

Don Henry presents cheque to NSSWe were thrilled to hear this news, however, it is indeed bitter sweet, as it must have been a tremendously difficult time for the employees, volunteers, participants, and Board members at
NAOC.

Many of the Neil Squire Society’s participants are older Canadians, particularly those in our Computer Comfort Program, and this donation will enable us to continue reaching out to them as well as some of the most marginalized people with disabilities in Canada.

The Neil Squire Society (new window) is proud to continue
NAOC ‘s legacy and we are truly honoured that we were chosen for this truly special donation. Thank you, NAOC!
