Oleg Sharpens His English Skills Through Volunteerism

June 28, 2011

Oleg, who is originally from Russia (new window), began volunteering with the Neil Squire Society’s Computer Comfort program about two years ago for the “experience of computer tutoring with English-speaking clients.”  On top of sharpening his English skills, Oleg enjoys the socializing aspect of weekly volunteering, as well as the self-development and recognition it provides.

Computer Comfort participant OlegWhile tutoring clients in the basics of computing and using the internet, Oleg has learned just how essential the Computer Comfort program is in giving “new skills and hope” to persons with disabilities. He says that while “almost everybody has computer problems at home”, he did not realize there were so many people with disabilities who want to improve there skills to try and find a job. With Oleg’s help, many of our clients are able to do just that.

Thanks Oleg!
