Simon works as a visitor centre agent in Pemberton. His job requires him to speak with tourists both in-person and over the phone, a task made more difficult by his hearing loss.
“My hearing loss was impairing my ability to teach effectively, as I could not hear questions, could not respond appropriately to clients, and could not facilitate group discussions. It was getting worse and worse to the point where I was pretty much unable to teach classes at all, but the hearing aids have allowed me to hear again.”
Andrew learned about WorkBC Assistive Technology Services from Surrey Hearing Care, and decided to apply. He was approved for funding that covered most of the costs of a new set of high quality hearing aids.
Michelle works at a travel company on Vancouver Island. Her job involves talking a lot with customers over the phone. However, Michelle has hearing loss which made it difficult to accurately hear her clients.
