Having joined Neil Squire initially as a co-op student in 2012, Milad eventually became one of the first staff members of our Makers Making Change program. A user of assistive technology himself, Milad was passionate about designing assistive technology that could empower others with disabilities — he combined his skills as a systems engineer with his own lived experience with disability.
Today marks the 42nd anniversary of the Neil Squire Society, and I wanted to share a story from our early days (and a couple photos).
Looking back on 40 years of impact, our Executive Director Dr. Gary Birch reflects back on his time working with Neil in the 1980’s, and on the importance of client centred solutions.
We were pleased to recently receive a photo of our old robotics research and development lab at the old Shaughnessy Hospital site taken in the mid-80’s.
We received a wonderful message this week from Deb, a high school friend of Neil Squire. “I saw a television ad last night on TV and it brought back memories,” shares Deb. Neil was very active with the high school boys basketball team, and Deb was a cheer leader.
