We received this letter from an occupational therapist in British Columbia, who received a laser cut keyguard (new window) for one of their clients:

“Thanks to Makers Making Change (new window) we have a great keyguard for our little keyboard.

W. is a super bright little boy in grade one who was struggling with printing because of his cerebral palsy. We found it was easier for him to use a keyboard to do his written work, but he often hit the wrong key and had to delete all the time. It was very frustrating.

He’s small and only needed a small keyboard but all the commercially available keyguards are for large keyboards. I searched high and low but found nothing. Finally, I connected with Maker Making Change, I gave them the dimensions of W’s little keyboard. Within a short time, I had a finished keyguard and it worked great!

Now W. is enthusiastically participating all by himself in his spelling tests and writing activities.”
