Youth Enabled Program

The Neil Squire Society’s Youth Enabled Program is an employment program for youth with physical disabilities. The program prepares youth to make a successful transition into the labour force by helping them obtain, and maintain employment. To be considered for the program, youth must be unemployed and want to become employed.

Program Start Date: January 21, 2013 
(offered at at our Burnaby office only)

Program details:

The program is 16 weeks in total.
              – 8 weeks in the classroom, 4 days (20 hours) per week.
              – 8 weeks of work experience, 4 days (20 hours) per week.

Paid experience. Participants will be paid minimum wage, $10.25/hr, for the full 16 weeks.

In the classroom participants will learn; career research, formulate a resume and cover letter, conduct mock interviews, develop communication skills, anger management, conflict resolution, stress management, teamwork, and confidence building.

Participants will be paired up with employers where they will gain valuable on-the-job work experience.

To be eligible for the program, participants must:

Have a disability (physical or mobility related).
Be between the ages of 15 to 30.
Be unemployed.
Not receiving Employment Insurance (EI).
Legally entitled to work in Canada.
