When Bobby, who is blind, joined the Employ-Ability program he knew that he wanted a future in music. He had been a musician all through high school and had been teaching guitar for a few years. After some career research, Bobby was convinced that in order to become employable he was going to need more credentials. He was diligent in exploring different programs and identifying recognized and respected post secondary institutions.
Bobby’s first choice for school was Vancouver Community College (new window). Their two-year Music Diploma program (new window) offers the opportunity to continue studies at a more advanced level following completion of the program. This will give Bobby exposure to many different aspects and specialized training that will assist with a career path.
Because of his research, Bobby found that Vancouver Community College (new window) had all the supports that a blind musician would need – their learning materials have been transcribed to be JAWS accessible.
We wish Bobby all the best and look forward to seeing which direction his music takes him.
