JAWS: From Using to Teaching

May 17, 2011

Graham, who is completely blind, uses the powerful screen reading software, JAWS (new window) to access his computer and navigate software such as Microsoft Word (new window), the Internet and Email.

Graham came to the Neil Squire Society seeking assistance to find part time work to help with his expenses. He indicated that he was interested in research-based and academic-related work. He began working with Job Developer, Anu Pala to seek part time employment and recently secured a part time position at the University of British Columbia (new window) working as a tutor specializing in JAWS training. Graham’s current client is hoping to polish his skills so that he is able to work more effectively during class and while doing research, as part of his academic program. Graham’s extensive experience and knowledge using JAWS will be of immense use to his client.
