Nadia was diagnosed with a mental health disorder in 2023, which she manages with medication. She finds it reduces her motivation, and makes it more difficult for her to be in public and engage socially. Nadia joined our Creative Employment Options program hoping to gain confidence, and to find part-time employment that fits her schedule.
Jane works as a customer service associate for a home improvement retail store, assisting customers in-person, online, and over the phone. She has mild to moderate hearing loss, with lower hearing in higher tones, and with specific letter sounds.
Michael joined our Creative Employment Options program motivated to secure full-time employment in a Business Development role and eager to enhance his professional marketing tools.
Cybertronic Penguinz is a FIRST robotics team located in Calgary, Alberta. A big part of the club is also about giving back to the community. So, when they learned about the Clubs That Care initiative, and the opportunity to build assistive devices for Canadians with disabilities, it made a lot of sense to get involved.
Donovon works as a Web Services Manager, which involves managing web services, extensive typing while communicating with clients, and precise mouse work for digital updates. He describes the role as “technically demanding and sedentary,” working up to nine hours a day at a workstation. However, arthritis in his shoulders, as well as ADD, anxiety, and depression, were making it difficult for him to work full-time.
