Amir has severe Degenerative disc disease (new window). He recently had major spinal surgery with an 85% chance of becoming paralyzed after the surgery. Amir believes it was his determination and extremely optimistic outlook that helped him to successfully complete his rehabilitation. Although he still experiences pain and discomfort issues on a daily basis, he is walking, and feels very fortunate for the progress he has made.
Amir works as a part-time general manager at a car dealership. The Neil Squire Society’s Job Focus program arranged for him to participate in an ergonomic assessment with a Neil Squire Society Occupational Therapist. The Occupational Therapist completed a worksite and workstation assessment and the Job Focus program obtained the necessary disability support equipment Amir needed to do his job. Amir recently reported that the disability supports have “helped tremendously”.
