Enable youth with a disability to work

The Neil Squire Society’s Youth Enabled Program is an employment program for youth with disabilities. The program prepares youth to make a successful transition into the labour force by helping them obtain and maintain employment. We are looking for employers interested in supporting these youth and enabling them to gain on-the-job work experience.

The Neil Squire Society will cover all costs, wage and WCB coverage for the individual, for the duration of the 8 weeks, 20 hours per week.

Employer’s Involvement:

  • Provide a youth, ages 15 to 30, 8 weeks, up to 20 hours per week, of on-the-job training.
  • The possibility of hiring the youth on contract, part-time, or full-time, after their 8 weeks of work experience.
  • Provide the youth with a reference letter upon completion of the placement.
  • Meet with the Neil Squire Society staff and provide feedback to assist in the youth’s professional development.

Advantages of Providing a Job Placement for Youth:

  • The Neil Squire Society will cover wages and WCB coverage during the work experience placement portion of the program, maximum of 20 hours per week for 8 weeks.
  • Learn the participant’s abilities at no cost and prepare them for a permanent position with the host employer.
  • Serve as a mentor assisting with the participant’s future career path.
  • Contribute to positive outcomes for youth with a disability and help them develop lasting confidence.
  • Learn and build on innovative ideas created by youth in our community.
