Transition Resource Fair

We will be at the Transition Resource Fair for students of diverse abilities, hosted by The Inclusion Action Committee. The purpose of the Transition Fair is to connect students with community resources which will help them make a successful transition from high school to adulthood. Focus areas include access, education, employment, health, wellness and leisure.

Cybertronic Penguinz Use Their Robotics Skills to Give Back to the Community

Cybertronic Penguinz is a FIRST robotics team located in Calgary, Alberta. A big part of the club is also about giving back to the community. So, when they learned about the Clubs That Care initiative, and the opportunity to build assistive devices for Canadians with disabilities, it made a lot of sense to get involved.

Matthew Finds a Job He’s Passionate About in the Food Services Industry

Matthew was born with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. He has recently noticed a decline in his memory and finds himself forgetting information more easily than before. He also struggled in school in the past, which he now thinks could be related to his disability. To manage this, Matthew finds that having additional time to learn material and practicing repetition is helpful.

Rebecca Finds a Great Work Experience With the Ryga Arts Festival

Rebecca (name changed to protect privacy) is a young songwriter who is passionate about the arts. She has cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy, and uses a wheelchair. Looking for work experience that suited her interests, she joined our Creative Employment Options program.
