ATIA Conferences: Where the Assistive Technology Community Meets to… Network, Learn, and Share
The ATIA Conference addresses all disabilities and all types of assistive technology for all ages, from early childhood to seniors. Sessions and events embrace the education market, university-level disability services, technology for independent living, accommodations for the workplace, the needs of an aging population, and research on technology developments and outcomes.
Makers Making Change will be attending this event. They have a booth in spot 422 on the trade floor.
Session (February 1st, 9:20 to 10:50 am)
Director of Innovation, Chad Leaman, will present on Connecting Assistive Technology to the Maker Movement. Participants will be introduced to what makerspaces are and what common tools are available, and how to find a maker in your community to help you with fabrication of assistive technologies. The session will also allow people to try some existing maker assistive technologies, and how to find more solutions (or find help making a new solution) through online and offline communities.
edcampAccess International (February 1st, 6:00 to 9:30 pm)
Makers Making Change will be participating in this unconference devoted to k-12 special education issues and ideas with a focus on teaching all struggling learners and the use of assistive technology.
ATIA Maker Day (February 2nd, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm)
On ATIA Maker Day, assistive technology makers join forces to share everything from low-tech solutions to modified technology solutions, and explore a wide range of creations that have helped solve challenges in the AT community.
At Booth 422, Makers Making Change will exhibit on Soldering Fun: Learn to solder! By soldering you can build simple to complex projects. We will be making a light-touch switch – come by, learn to solder, and leave with a light touch finger switch.
