Toy Adapt-a-thon

December 8, 2018

child using assistive technology

Adapted toys are magic for kids with motor issues. It’s true that the toy creates joy and fun for the child, but it’s also the first step towards the ability to control their world. Switch activated toys are incredibly powerful for children with physical challenges. However they are very expensive and often out of reach for families with disabled children. Please help us in making toys accessible to all children through a simple electronic conversion.

There are several ways you can help. Donate dollars so we can provide electronic components and toys. Come help Bellingham Makerspace convert toys on December 8th and learn a little about electronics. Help us spread the word so we can further serve the community. Adapted toys will be donated to the toy lending library at Ershig Assisitive Technology Resource Center.

Do you know a child who needs a toy? Please contact us (soon) so we can provide. Thank-you for all of your support. Bellingham Makerspace is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides access to tools, technology education, professional development, and a robust community of creative amazing humans. We invite you to come by for a tour of the space. We give public tours Sundays at 2:00 and Mondays at 6. See you there!
