On August 25th, the Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Disability Inclusion, Carla Qualtrough, announced (new window) that the Government of Canada is investing in 17 organizations across Canada that are providing Canadians with the skills and support they need to succeed in the workforce through the Skills for Success program.

Digital Jumpstart is a free online program available across Canada that helps people with disabilities improve their digital literacy so they have the confidence to take their next steps — join a job placement or readiness program, return to school, join the workforce, or simply become more confident using a computer.

The program taps into Neil Squire’s nearly 20 years of experience providing support to people with disabilities using remote technology. Participants will work one-on-one with an instructor in a virtual, private classroom from the comfort of their own homes. The participant and instructor will be able to talk and see each other’s screens, allowing active learning to occur regardless of where they are located in Canada.
