Lori, who has multiple sclerosis (new window), recently had to take time away from her job hunt to recuperate following a particularly difficult winter. During this time, she accepted her disability and her new limitations more fully. Lori consulted SaskJobs (new window) for advice and decided to enroll in the Employ-Ability program. She realized that she needed to identify occupations which fit with her interests and abilities.
While in the Employ-Ability program, Lori learned how to hone her resume into a more appealing marketing tool. Practice interviews allowed her to focus on body language.
“During the program, I made great networking connections and have found a support system of friends and colleagues,” said Lori. “It is very inspiring to hear about the experiences of others struggling to set their own goals. Now, I am ready and able to begin a full time career.”
Lori is currently pursuing an opportunity as Assistant Curator with the Mackenzie Art Gallery (new window), and another position as Receptionist in the broadcasting field with CTV (new window), Access, and CBC (new window).
“I would recommend and have recommended this program to my friends, colleagues and anyone who asks for my advice in living with disability.”
