Sometimes finding the perfect computer equipment is like finding the perfect outfit. One item may fit to the tee, but the hunt continues for the rest of the items. Because everyone’s body is different, every item will fit every person differently. Anu, a Career Facilitator/Job Developer at the Neil Squire Society (new window), uses assistive technology because she is blind, and this is exactly what happened to her. She couldn’t find the perfect wireless headset to fit her desired needs, until she met Michael from Sennheiser.
“Thanks to Michael Wyman from Sennheiser Canada (new window) for sending out a wireless headset for me. I had been searching for an appropriate wireless headset that would work with JAWS (new window)for several months. After speaking to the customer service agents at Sennheiser, and communicating my needs, they referred my query on to Michael.
Michael mentioned that he had helped hearing and visually impaired customers find viable options in the past, so he knew exactly what I was looking for. After dealing with the headset issue, I began to discuss and explain the cool stuff we do here at Neil Squire Society. Something must have come over him because he then offered to send me a headset to trial. He said, “Hey… If you like it and it meets your needs, consider it a gift.” Well, that took me for a loop! At first, I couldn’t even accept his offer, but he talked about how he liked the concept of “paying it forward (new window).” At that moment I felt a bond between us.
I am grateful to him as I now have the freedom of movement at my desk as well as when I facilitate workshops. I look forward to meeting Michael in Toronto (new window) in late November when I will be attending the CERIC (new window) planning meeting. Thanks again Sennheiser! Keep up the awesome work!”
