“My hearing loss was impairing my ability to teach effectively, as I could not hear questions, could not respond appropriately to clients, and could not facilitate group discussions. It was getting worse and worse to the point where I was pretty much unable to teach classes at all, but the hearing aids have allowed me to hear again.”
Through our #HackingForTheHolidays campaign, Laurence received a switch-adapted toy cat, as well as a variety of switches she could use. Laurence especially loves that the toy cat has two switches and she can decide whether to make it walk or meow.
A couple months ago we started talking about some of the ways in which Virtual Reality (VR) can be used as AT. Today we’re going to take things even further and look at specific areas of difficulty that these apps might address, as well as making specific app recommendations.
Elana spends quite a bit of time volunteering, and in particular, with a cause that’s close to her heart — teaching a workshop on living with chronic pain.
