Today, Roy uses a computer to manage the administrative tasks for his music career, and to work on his weekly radio show — doing audio editing, script writing, making the playlists, and research. He uses the JAWS screen reader to navigate the various programs on his computer.
“My interaction with co-workers has greatly improved,” Gary says. “Having hearing aids gives me the ability to participate in meetings and the confidence since I can actually hear what everyone is talking about.”
With the help of a wage subsidy through Neil Squire’s Creative Employment Options program, the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Association hired Mike as their Accessibility Program Assistant to support and build their Accessibility Program.
“No more miscommunication, tasks take a faster time to complete, and [I’m] able to hear better both in noisy and quiet situations,” Farhad explains. “[It’s] essential for maintaining relationships and connections with co-workers.”
