“Prior to receiving these, I was unable to spend more than 15 minutes at a time sitting at a computer or doing paperwork. Sitting in general was very difficult for me. I was struggling as physical limitations were already limiting the type of work I could do and difficulties with sitting, etc., were making desk-based work very difficult,” Darren says.
“I am so grateful!” Michelle says. “I honestly know that I would not be able to accomplish this without the equipment I received.”
For over 30 years, Greg worked as a carpenter on Salt Spring Island. Three years ago, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. He joined our Digital Jumpstart program to be able to do more research on the computer and access opportunities that are available digitally, now that he isn’t able to work.
Kim is a computer programmer and math tutor. In addition to coding, her job as a programmer involves a lot of meetings with co-workers to design and debug software, while as a tutor, she works one-on-one with students in-person and over Zoom. However, her hearing loss was beginning to make many of these tasks difficult.
The new hearing aids have made a big difference in Laurie’s ability to do her job, allowing her to effectively communicate with clients. They also make a big difference with safety, allowing her to be more aware of her surroundings.
