“The [Makers Making Change] mission aligns so well with Shepherd’s mission, it just seemed like a really natural fit,” says chapter leader Kristen Webber, a dual spinal cord and brain injury specialist and currently an Inpatient Therapy Manager in Sheperd’s Spinal Cord Injury Unit.
“I can buy stuff on my own now. I feel proud I help my family and I have more confidence in myself now.”
Fiona is a professional engineer. Communication is key at her job. However, she has moderate to severe hearing loss in both ears.
Peggy had over 20 years of experience as an industrial butcher, but when she lost much of her ability to walk due to diabetes, she had to get out of the industry.
“Without hearing aids, I would be quite ineffective at my job. Singing is something I have learned to be able to do with or without my hearing aids.”
