Last year, Maria underwent a lumpectomy surgery. While the surgery was successful, it left her with nerve damage and significant discomfort whenever she tried lifting anything. Looking to explore new career paths, she decided to join our Creative Employment Options program after hearing about it through word of mouth.

Maria was paired with a Job Developer who worked with her on tailoring her resume for job postings, building a cover letter, and interviewing skills such as answering every question with confidence. They also worked on finding a new career path that fit perfectly within her skillset, interests, and capabilities.

She was grateful for the help she received, and especially appreciated working with her Job Developer as she feels it gave her “a valuable advantage” in her job search.

Maria’s patience and determination paid off when she was offered the position of Food Service Worker at a cake shop. Now, she can creatively express herself through cake decoration while fine tuning her baking skills. Maria’s confidence both personally and professionally have skyrocketed.
