Denise’s Road to New Beginnings

July 24, 2013

Denise decided that 2013 would be a year of change and the Neil Squire Society became part of this change. Denise has cerebral palsy and has been striving to enter the workforce for the past five years. Her search ended when the Neil Squire Society (new window) gave Denise the opportunity to gain work experience through the Youth Enabled Program. At Denise’s work placement she performed administrative duties, using Excel and working on databases.

She gained many valuable skills through the Youth Enabled Program that she will be able to use further in the working world. She built relationships and received a great amount of support from the Youth Enabled Program coordinators, Linda and Sara. “They were with me the whole way,” said Denise. “They have helped open doors to a brighter future.”

She also emphasized how the program taught her to save money and make money. Denise is now prepared for her future work prospects and will continue her success by volunteering and finding her ultimate job.

Denise happily finished the Youth Enabled Program and feels that she is always welcomed back at the Neil Squire Society.
