From the beginning, he collaborated closely with his Job Developer, engaging in meaningful conversations about his career goals, strengths, and the barriers that had previously affected his employment experience. Michael was open about experiencing anxiety that could impact his productivity and workplace interactions, and together they developed strategies to proactively address these challenges.
Through focused resume development, Michael and his Job Developer refined the formatting, strengthened accomplishment statements, and ensured that his skills, education, languages, and employment history were clearly and professionally represented. The result was a polished resume that confidently reflected his capabilities and aligned with his career aspirations.
When a Business Development job opportunity arose with a same-day deadline, Michael demonstrated initiative and commitment. He quickly created a tailored cover letter specifically customized for the role and employer, and submitted a strong, competitive application.
He also received individualized interview coaching, which included strategies for effectively answering behavioural questions, presenting himself with confidence, managing anxiety during interviews, and understanding his rights and options regarding disability disclosure.
Following a very successful interview process, Michael was offered a full-time position supported by the Creative Employment Options wage subsidy. He has settled well into his new role — and it hasn’t just been a great fit for Michael, his employer has been thrilled with his performance.
