After a long career as a service tech working on cars, Robert now works full-time driving the customer shuttle at a car dealership in Kamloops.
“I was suffering hearing loss as a result of working in a shop for 50 years, and I was having trouble hearing directions from customers I was driving,” he shares.
With the help of WorkBC Assistive Technology Services, Robert got the hearing aids he needs to continue doing his job.
“The people at WorkBC [Assistive Technology Services] were great, they helped me get assistance in buying my hearing aids, and were super to deal with, 100% positive,” he says.
The new hearing aids have made a big difference in Robert’s workday.
“[It’s] much easier to do my job and communicate with customers,” he explains. “I can now hear what my customers are saying to me while I am driving and I no longer have to struggle to hear what they are saying.”
Robert says he recommends WorkBC Assistive Technology Services to others in need.
“It is a great service and a lot of help,” he shares. “[I] just want to thank everyone who helped me and let them know I appreciate everything they did for me.”
WorkBC Assistive Technology Services is operated by Neil Squire. Assistive Technology Services are available to individuals who have a work-related barrier due to a disability or a functional limitation. This may include barriers related to traveling to and from the workplace.
