While preparing to graduate with a Bachelor of Commerce, Jaxson, who has Muscular Dystrophy (new window), was looking for summer jobs and long term part-time opportunities.
He was applying to many places online, but found he was not getting any interviews.
Jaxson had previously gained short term work experience through Neil Squire’s Working Together program, and so he decided to seek help.
After working on his resume and cover letter with Working Together staff in Victoria, Jaxson’s applications started gaining traction, and he found himself lining up interviews.
He was getting close to landing a job, however with the COVID-19 pandemic, found employers were unable to proceed with hiring.
Jaxson has been working hard with the Working Together team to use this time to improve his skills, research his ideal employers, and use his network to schedule information interviews. He has been calling previous contacts to learn more about specific organizations and potential job opportunities.
Now, Jaxson feels confident that he will be able to leverage the work experience that he has gained and his networking skills to find long term employment.
