Kristian joined our Creative Employment Options program earlier this year, with the goal of building his confidence, gaining practical workplace skills, and preparing for employment. He was eager to learn, and motivated to develop the tools necessary for success in the workforce.
Throughout the program, Kristian worked closely with his Job Developer to update his resume and cover letter, as well as to practice interview techniques through mock interviews. They explored various career options, focusing on securing a position in a physically active trade. Together, they discussed strategies for making a positive first impression, handling common interview questions, and effectively presenting his strengths to potential employers.
Kristian also learned about disclosing his disability in the workplace, including what to share, when to share it, and how to communicate effectively with employers. Additionally, he received guidance on job search methods, such as networking, cold calling, and online applications. These supports enabled him to approach employment opportunities with clarity and confidence.
Ultimately, Kristian secured a position as a lawn technician with a lawn care company. He quickly demonstrated his ability to adapt and excel in this hands-on role.
