Rodger was already employed when he came to the Neil Squire Society. He had been working as a security guard for the past two and a half years, yet he had been working less than 10 hours a week, and was feeling seriously financially strained.
A motor vehicle collision over 20 years ago left Garry with chronic pain, fatigue, and muscle tightness in his neck, shoulders and lower back. Though he had made adjustments to his workstation on his own, he was still feeling fatigue.
On June 2nd and 3rd, we hosted the TELUS LipSync Buildathon. While leaving the TELUS Garden with 30 more newly built LipSyncs was enough reason for elation — not to mention getting to meet an enthusiastic, hard-working group of makers at TELUS — it was an announcement by the Minister of Sport and Persons with Disabilities, Carla Qualtrough, that had us really excited for the future.
Charles Levasseur, Regional Manager / Assistive Technology and Learning Disability Specialist, won a Disability Awareness Week Provincial award on May 30th at the annual Disability Awareness Week legislative breakfast.
After closing out May with a series of Maker Faires — the Bay Area Maker Faire and the Sunshine Coast Mini Maker Faire — we’re headed for a busy June full of events and Buildathons. It’s time for outreach and making.
