Garry Bartsch is an inventor like his father before him. “That’s in my blood, I guess. I’ve always liked drawing things, and I’ve always liked designing things, and it’s been a hobby — it’s enjoyable, but it’s also useful to me.”
As a C5-C6 quadriplegic, 3D printing gives Garry an avenue to create.
“The [Makers Making Change] mission aligns so well with Shepherd’s mission, it just seemed like a really natural fit,” says chapter leader Kristen Webber, a dual spinal cord and brain injury specialist and currently an Inpatient Therapy Manager in Sheperd’s Spinal Cord Injury Unit.
Longtime maker Fawzan Hussain was announced as one of 14 British Columbians who will receive the Province’s Medal of Good Citizenship.
