Tyler joined our Creative Employment Options program in Regina, Saskatchewan with the goal of re-entering the workforce and rebuilding his confidence. Having been diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder and depression, he has difficulties with his self-confidence and in remaining positive.
He worked one-on-one with his Job Developer to develop his resume and cover letter writing skills, and how to tailor each to different job ads.
Tyler took part in various interview preparation activities, and learned how to make a positive first impression and answer questions confidently. During his mock interview, Tyler came in dressed up like he would for a real interview and ready to receive feedback from his Career Facilitator. He also worked on building his self confidence through confidence building exercises.
Throughout the job search process, Tyler was very engaged and motivated. During his time in the Creative Employment Options program, he began volunteering at an animal shelter to build his experience and to make connections with other professionals.
After sending out a number of job applications, he received an interview for a retail position in a museum gift shop. Tyler came to the interview with the confidence he gained from his interview prep and made a great impression — he received an offer shortly after. At his new job, Tyler’s friendly personality shines through in every interaction with the museum guests he meets.
Tyler is grateful for the help he received through Creative Employment Options.
“I have nothing but amazing things to say about Neil Squire Society and how they helped me reach this goal!” he shares.
