WorkBC Assistive Technology Services “[Made] It Affordable for Me to Purchase Hearing Aids”

June 17, 2026

WorkBC Assistive Technology Services participant Jack.Jack is a driver and operator. For his job, he operates trucks and equipment, does labour, instructs workers as a foreman, and talks with clients. He has hearing loss.

“[I] can not hear communications from clients and workers, by radio or in-person,” he shares.

His audiologist referred him to WorkBC Assistive Technology Services for funding for the hearing aids he needs on the job. He applied and was quickly approved. “[It made] it affordable for me to purchase hearing aids,” he says.

“[The hearing aids] allow me to hear clients and workers on two-way radios and in-person,” he explains. “[It’s] much easier to communicate and [it] increased jobsite safety.”

Jack says he “absolutely” recommends WorkBC Assistive Technology Services to others, praising the service he received from our team.

“All people involved in the program have been a fantastic help.”

WorkBC Assistive Technology Services is operated by Neil Squire. Assistive Technology Services are available to individuals who have a work-related barrier due to a disability or a functional limitation. This may include barriers related to traveling to and from the workplace.
